Rainforest Photo Tour - 3 days
3 days / 2 nights
The base
The Gamboa lodge will be our base on this trip, and it is at the border of the amazing Soberania National Park. Around the lodge we normally observe a lot of wildlife like agouti, monkeys, and sometimes three-toed sloths. Just 50 mts around the lodge we have detected over 135 species of birds. Rainforests reveal their secrets slowly, and that makes it more interesting photographically. You have the chance to get some unique photographs. As we walk slowly through the rainforest, we take in the spirit of the forest, and listen, feel, and smell the jungle.
Day 1: In the rainforest
We pick you up at your preferred hotel in Panama City at 08.00 in the morning (We recommend the Albrook Inn hotel for a smooth pickup). After a 45 minutes drive to Gamboa we will go on a walk in the rainforest to explore and photograph birds and other wildlife in the rainforest of Soberania national park. At midday we will check in at the lodge at Gamboa, and after lunch we will walk and photograph inside the rainforest og Soberania national park, and alongside Chagres river.
Meals: Lunch and dinner.
Day 2: Boat safari
On this day we are going on a boat safari on the Chagres River and side arms of Gatun Lake. We will be in the boat just before sunrise, and head out to photograph birds, animals and other wildlife we encounter on the 6 hours boat trip. After lunch and some relaxation we are going out to a nearby lake for more photography, and we stay out until sunset.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 3: In and above the rainforest
Early in the morning we head into the rainforest of Soberania national park, and go directly up in a tower where we have a 360 degrees view over the rainforest canopy. We will watch the sunrise from there, and photograph birds and other wildlife in and under the rainforest canopy. After a few hours in the tower we will move down to the ground and photograph hummingbirds, other birds, and other animals like monkeys in the rainforest.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch
